In recognition of National Small Business Week, the City of Raleigh Office of Economic Development is co-sponsoring three events to inspire local small business owners! This year’s National Small Business Week is April 29 through May 5.

 

Connect Raleigh Lecture ft Jason Mayden - Monday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m.

The Connect Raleigh Lecture Series will feature Jason Mayden, former design executive for Nike and current CEO and co-founder of Super Heroic, Inc. Mr. Mayden will share his experience working for a Fortune 500 company and what he has learned from starting his own business. Following the lecture will be a panel discussion with local business owners and a reception with light refreshments. 

Attendees of “Connect Raleigh” will also have the opportunity to speak with local organizations that provide resources for small businesses and start-up companies. Local organizations include BLNC, Carolina Small Business Development Fund, City of Raleigh Office of Economic Development, City of Raleigh MWBE, SBA, Wake Tech Small Business Center and the Women’s Business Center of North Carolina. Hosted by the City of Raleigh and co-sponsored by the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. The panel discussion sponsored by the Wake Tech Small Business Center.

 

Meet the Lenders - Wednesday, May 2 at 9:00 a.m.

Meet the Lenders is designed to inform entrepreneurs and small business owners on financing options available with local lenders. The event will provide participants with an array of information from understanding what lenders are looking for when evaluating small business loan applications, to understanding which type of funding may be a better fit for their business.  Hosted by the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by the City of Raleigh, Carolina Small Business Development Fund, SBA, Self Help Credit Union and Wells Fargo. Seats are limited, register today.

 

Sharpen Your Skills: Practice Your Pitch - Friday, May 4 at 9:00 a.m.

Are you a good “pitcher”? Need help presenting your business ideas? Sharpen Your Skills: Practice Your Pitch, will provide entrepreneurs with tips and techniques to promote their business in preparation for pitch competitions and investors. Judges and coaches will be available to help business owners present their pitch! Register today!
